1,2-Pentanediol is a linear aliphatic glycol (chemical formula C₅H₁₂O₂) commonly used as a reactive monomer in the synthesis of bio-based polyester fibres and resins. Considering its application in polyester polycondensation reactions, this product has a more flexible chain structure than traditional petroleum-based glycols. It can partially or completely replace raw materials such as ethylene glycol and 1,3-propanediol.
