Recently the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Henan Province released the 2025 Edition of the Demonstration Guidance Catalogue for the First Batch of Key New Materials in Henan Province. "Bio-based 1,2-pentanediol" independently developed by Henan HOSN, the subsidiary of Yino Biologic Group, was successfully selected in the category of advanced chemical materials. Among the 17 advanced chemical materials selected across the province, HOSN distinguished itself through three core strengths: "non-food raw materials, low-carbon closed-loop production, and full industrial chain resource recycling". This selection underscores the company's technological leadership in the bio-based materials sector and delivers strong provincial-level endorsement. It also injects new momentum into the upgrading of Henan's new materials industry, setting a model for the transformation of traditional chemical industries toward sustainable, high-performance materials.

As a national benchmark enterprise in non-food bio-based materials, HOSN Bio has long focused on high-value utilization as the core of its R&D strategy. The selected product, bio-based 1,2-pentanediol, is derived from corncobs via a proprietary closed-loop process that enables a full-chain conversion: corncob → furfural → 1,2-pentanediol. With natural antimicrobial properties, high moisturizing efficacy, and 100% biodegradability, this product offers a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based materials. It has broad applicability in cosmetics, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and high-end industrial sectors, with the plant capable of processing over 2 million tons of corncobs annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 75%-truly turning biomass waste into value.

Puyang City, the only approved new chemical industry base in Henan Province, is accelerating the development of five strategic industrial chains, including bio-based materials and polycarbonate new materials. Leveraging the city's solid industrial foundation, HOSN Bio is advancing bio-based materials from lab-scale R&D to industrial-scale production through integrated collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutes. Inclusion in the provincial guidance catalogue is expected to further strengthen upstream and downstream coordination across the industry chain, helping Puyang establish a leading domestic bio-based materials industrial cluster.
This recognition represents not only a validation of the company's R&D achievements but also a key milestone in its long-term commitment to the bio-based materials field. Looking ahead, HOSN Bio will continue to expand its R&D investment. As the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) takes effect and global demand for sustainable materials surges, HOSN's expanding portfolio of bio-based materials will further accelerate the global green supply chain transformation and provide strong support for achieving global carbon neutrality goals.
